Authorities said that the core purpose of installing the cameras is to enhance safety around the airport, along with addressing traffic congestion caused by vehicles halting on the roadside. Frequent night-time traffic jams had made it difficult for many passengers to reach the terminal on time, often resulting in missed flights.

To streamline the flow of vehicles, the Traffic Police will conduct another round of inspection around the airport in the next two days. Following this survey, they will finalise a dedicated spot where cabs and rickshaws must drop off or pick up passengers.

The area will be clearly marked, and drivers will have to adhere to a strict time limit. Any vehicle stopping outside the designated zone will face immediate action.

Speaking about the initiative, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav said the goal is not just to penalise motorists but to curb illegal parking and reduce congestion around Pune Airport, while ensuring that passengers and citizens are not inconvenienced.
