Another burglary attempt at Pu La Deshpande house

Pune: In yet another burglary bid, noted Marathi writer the late Pu La Deshpande's locked house was broken into, but burglars went empty handed as the entire flat comprising three rooms was filled with nothing but books.

Unidentified burglars broke into the room of the 'Malati Madhav' building on Bhandarkar Road,where many books the poet had owned is stored. Although nothing seems to have been stolen,the books were strewn about and a cupboard was found broken.

The incident came to light on Tuesday morning. 

Senior police inspector Ajay Kadam incharge of Deccan Gymkhana police station visited the spot with his team. The process of filling FIR is going on.

Deshpande used to live on the first floor from 1996 to 2000. The room remained closed after his death. 

Earlier on April 10,2012, thieves had broken in to the house and had strewn the books and the cupboard was damaged. Nothing was stolen then, police said.
