Book on auto components out

ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune: With over 38 years of experience in the field of quality at Tata Motors, former vice president of Tata Motors SP Joshi released his book ‘Auto Component And Failure Analysis’ on Tuesday evening at Jawaharlal Nehru Sanskrutik Bhavan on Ghole Road.

It was lack of literature in the field of quality and failure analysis which motivated Joshi to pen down his vast and diverse experience in the book. Pratap Pawar, Managing Director of Sakal Media Group, was present on the occasion.

Speaking at the launch, Joshi said the book talks about product development, tools and techniques required to build a robust product and tracking the root cause analysis of failure. “The book should be read by professional engineers, workshop technicians and engineering students, which will provide them insight about quality management of products. The book has over 57 different case studies with live examples and well-researched material with graphics,” added Joshi.

The launch event started with a panel discussion on ‘Quality: Excellence journey to customer satisfaction’. The panelists shared their experiences about the need to maintain quality of the product. One of the panelists Harshawardhan Joshi spoke on maintaining quality of tangible as well as intangible products. “The auto sector uses lots of software and while we are talking about quality of physical products in auto sector we must also see that we have the best software. Similarly testing of products in multi-environment is essential to check for quality,” added Joshi.
