Campaign to curb obesity launched

PUNE: Sahyadri Hospitals, Pune Traffic Police and JTs Obesity Solutions launched a health initiative ‘Weight Signal’ on Thursday. The initiative was inaugurated in presence of DCP Ashok Morale, Ketan Apte, Unit Head, Sahyadri Multispecialty Hospital, Deccan, and Bariatric Surgeon Jayashree Todkar. 

The initiative, to be held till February 10, will include health assessment for members of RTO and traffic police department, and exclusive health workshops on ‘Nutrition and Lifestyle Modification’ by obesity expert Jayashree Todkar.

“We are extremely happy to associate with the Pune traffic police for this unique initiative. About 400 policemen will participate in this initiative,” said Apte.

Dr Todkar said, “In the last decade or so, obesity has gripped many professions including doctors and police. We cannot neglect the issue. So we have undertaken this campaign.”
