Candle march held to condemn Unnao, Kathua rape incidents

ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune: To condemn the horrific incidents in Unnao and Kathua, city-based Owee, an NGO, held a candle march from Fergusson College gate to Bal Gandharva Bridge to protest against the incidents, demanding severe punishment to rapists and justice for the victims.

The candle march was led by women activists Trupti Desai and Dipti Kale and members of the NGO. “Though the weather disappointed us, all persons invited were there and many college students joined the group when the march started,” said Desai.

She added, “Rape and murder of the two girls in a democratic country is very shameful. We demand justice for the victims and the rapists should be punished as soon as possible. We demand a law to stop rapes from taking place all over the country.”
