Car in Sharad Pawar’s convoy meets with an accident on Mumbai-Pune expressway

Pune: A police pilot jeep in the convoy of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Chief and Member of Parliament Sharad Pawar met with an accident on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway near the Amrutanjan Bridge at around 9.30 am on Monday (June 29).  A policeman received minor injuries when the jeep driver lost control over the vehicle and it turned turtle below the bridge, while Pawar’s vehicle passed on safely.

Sharad Pawar was en route Mumbai on Monday early morning. A police pilot jeep with registration number MH12 NU 5881 was behind Pawar’s car. The driver of this car lost control over the steering and the van turned turtle. The incident was reported immediately to the Khandala highway police station.

Police staff and Devdoot rescue staff arrived at the spot immediately. The driver and another policeman were rescued. The policeman who had received minor injuries was immediately provided first aid. Police cleared the accident spot and traffic was restored on the e-way.

An accident near the Khopoli city on the Pune-Mumbai E-way was reported on Monday early morning in which two persons had died and four others injured. There was a traffic jam in this area after the accident. Highway police had barely managed to clear the traffic after the accident.
