Speaking on the occasion of Maharashtra Police Raising Day 2026, Kumar said the younger generation represents the country’s future. He appealed to students to stay away from drugs, alcohol, and other addictions, stating that substance abuse weakens society and fuels criminal behaviour.

The programme was held at MIT World Peace University, Kothrud, where the Police Commissioner interacted directly with students. He also spoke about cybercrime, online fraud, and the risks associated with social media, urging students to remain alert and practice safe digital behaviour.

Traffic safety was another key focus of the address. Kumar appealed to students to strictly follow traffic rules and support police efforts in maintaining road discipline. He noted that citizen participation plays a vital role in preventing accidents and ensuring safer cities.

Senior officials, including Joint Commissioner Ranjankumar Sharma and Additional Commissioner Pankaj Deshmukh, were present at the event. Around 1,000 students attended in person, while nearly five lakh students from 981 schools and colleges across Maharashtra joined online.

The Maharashtra Police also organised demonstrations showcasing various units such as bomb detection squads, dog squads, cyber cells, women’s safety teams, and traffic awareness initiatives.
