Citizens take oath to take care of their parents

PUNE: ‘Saath Chal’, an initiative by Sakal Media Group and Finolex Cable company, which was started last year is being implemented this year as well during the annual ‘Palkhi’ procession of Sant Dnyaneshwer Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj from Alandi and Dehu respectively to Pandharpur 

School and college students, doctors, lawyers, authors, labourers, various NGOs, associations and mandal workers are taking the oath to look after their ageing parents diligently like ‘Bhakat Pundalik’. This year’s initiative was formally launched by Dehu Sansthan President, Sohala Pramukh and trustees by flagging an orange flag at Bhakti Shakti Chowk, Nigdi on Tuesday.

The people supporting the initiative started their journey from Vithal Mandir, Akrudi at 7 am. The chariot carrying traditional musical instruments like ‘chowghada’ passed from the Finolex Cable company at Morwadi in Pimpri and the main chariot reached the gates of the company at 7.15 am.

Executive Chairman of the Finolex company Deepak Chhabria and many other officials took an oath to take care of their parents. Speaking on the occasion Deepak Chhabria said, “Saath Chal initiative was started last year. We should care for our parents like God. Parents always care for us against all odds. I particularly praise the students who have participated in this initiative. I am sure this initiative will strengthen the bond between the parents and their children.”
