City Anti-Narcotics Cell seizes 37 kg marijuana

Pune: Anti-Narcotics Cell of Pune police, with the help of Dighi police, has seized marijuana worth Rs 5.5 lakh from a drug peddler on Pune-Alandi Road on Sunday.

The arrested person, who has been identified as Ramesh Jadhav (32), a resident of Kedgaon in Alandi, is a narcotics dealers and was booked previously by Nigdi police in 2016 for smuggling marijuana.

Jadhav was arrested by the police during a routine patrol on Pune–Alandi Road on Sunday afternoon.

According to information provided by the Anti-Narcotics Cell, while patrolling on Sunday, they noticed that a white coloured Scorpio SUV was parked on the side of the road. After observing the vehicle for some time, they noticed the suspicious behaviour of the driver and confronted him.

While questioning him, their suspicion grew stronger and led to the seizure of 37 kg of marijuana worth Rs 5.57 lakh.
