PUNE: Factors such as increased marriage age, food habits and lifestyle issues mostly affect the fertility age in women, said Dr Yeshwant Mane of SaiShree Hospital. He was speaking during a press interaction on Tuesday afternoon. SaiShree Hospital in Aundh will soon launch its special surgery, set to launch an infertility and test tube baby centre on June 25. 

“The most fertile age for a woman for conceiving a child is between 22 and 34 years. However, now the marriage age has increased. Women and men are more focused on education and career. As the age has increased, there are also food habits and lifestyle issues leading to infertility. Obesity has also increased in women, leading to increased menstrual problems that may cause infertility. The intake of unhealthy and junk food is also a leading reason for obesity,” said Mane.

He highlighted that 50 per cent cases of infertility also involve men. “The reason for infertility among men is stress of work. Some men also suffer from sexual diseases. Though the awareness among men about infertility is growing, around 50 per cent men face the issue of infertility. Changing lifestyle is also one of leading reason,” said Mane.
