PUNE: The collective storage of all four dams has increased to 14.08 Thousand Million Cubic ft (TMC) or 48.31 per cent on Wednesday evening, which is 3.46 TMC more than the last week. However, it is 5.55 TMC less than the storage last year which was 19.63 TMC or 67.34 per cent.

Khadakwasla dam water level which was filled completely 100 per cent on July 11 however, the level reduced to 91.05 per cent on Wednesday. According to the Irrigation Department, only canal supply for farmers is on, while water from the dam will be released only when it reaches 100 per cent.

As the monsoon activity has lessened in the city and its vicinity, the catchment area of all four dams - Khadakwasla, Temghar, Panshet and Varasgaon on Wednesday received only 5 mm rainfall in total with Panshet recording 1 mm while Varasgaon and Temghar recording 1 mm and 3 mm respectively.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) draws almost 1.4 TMC water every month and 16 TMC in a year. With the current water level of 14.08 TMC, there will be a supply for next 11 months for the city. Dams are expected to reach 16 TMC by the end of next week. The total capacity of all four dams is 29.15 TMC.
