Pune: On the occasion of Constitution Day on November 26, Samvidhan Sanmaan Samiti (SSS) will be carrying out a rally on November 26 from Mahatma Phule Wada, Bhavani Peth, to Ambedkar statue near Zilla Parishad. “The aim of the rally is to empower and awaken people about their constitutional rights,” said Balasaheb Janrao during a press conference.

On this day in 1949, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar submitted the draft of Constitution to Independent India’s first president Dr Rajendra Prasad, who was also the president of Constitution draft committee. Since then, this day is observed as Constitutional Rights Day in the country.

Janrao said, “About 5,000 people will participate in the rally. Various social organisations from the city too will participate in it. Pune Mayor Mukta Tilak will inaugurate the rally. A palkhi procession will also be taken out on the occasion, signboards with slogans written on it will be carried during the procession. The members will also be singing patriotic songs to empower the citizens about their rights.”

He said, “People are unaware of their constitutional rights and we want to awake them about it. We want them to fight for their rights.”
