Contractor booked for death by negligence

PUNE: Officials of the Hinjawadi police station have booked contractors of Triveni Mudrai Project Limited for causing death by negligence after a four-year-old girl, who was killed in an accident when a SUV ran over her on Pune-Bengaluru Highway on February 10. 

According to the Hinjawadi police, complainant Amol Pawar (25) was driving the SUV occupied by 10 persons including the deceased Shraddha Chavan. At around 1.30 am the driver was crossing Pashan when he failed to notice the undergoing construction work on the road and met with the accident. While nine other occupants were injured along with Amol, four-year-old Shraddha succumbed to injuries. 

The police said that the contractors did not put up necessary sign boards to alert the drivers which led to the accident.
