Cops rescue minor girl from two kidnappers

PUNE: The Pimpri Chinchwad police on Thursday rescued a 12-year-old girl kidnapped from near her residence for a ransom of Rs 50 lakh at Chinchwad. Two men were arrested in the case. 

Police Commissioner RK Padmanabhan said that at noon, the girl got down from her school bus near her housing society. “She wanted to buy a pen and was going towards a nearby shop when she was kidnapped by the accused in a car. The girl raised an alarm and so a shopkeeper chased the car, but lost the car after some time,” he said. 

The girl’s parents and locals approached the police . The police checked all CCTV footages in the area. Later, the girl’s parents received a ransom call for Rs 50 lakh.  At 1 am on Friday, the police obtained details of whereabouts of the girl and raided a flat in Nere village near Hinjawadi and rescued her. The accused were identified as Nitin Gajarmal (25) and Jitendra Banjara (21), who did the deed to get money to start a business. The duo hails from Osmanabad.
