PUNE: The station masters of the Indian Railways have decided to donate one day’s salary to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund to support the central government in India’s fight against COVID-19.
The Station Masters will do this for three months. This was revealed by Pune Railway Station Master Ajay Kumar Sinha, who is a part of the All India Station Masters Association.
The total amount is expected to be Rs 21 crore. There are 39,000 station masters across the country which includes 360 from the Pune Railway Division. All other central government employees have already decided to donate a month’s salary.
As the global infected cases have risen over six lakhs, the pandemic has killed over 27,000 people globally. On Friday, 969 people died in Italy. The death toll has reached 20 in India, and over 900 people are infected.
