Pune: As the restrictions on movement eased as lockdown 3.0 nears ending, more shops and stores were allowed to open. Electronic goods, especially smartphones and laptops, were amongst the products that received major attention from the people.

Several stores saw queues of customers and many more online enquiries, as people tried to buy products that would help them work or learn at home efficiently. Smaller household applications are also in demand.

LAPTOPS, KITCHEN APPLIANCES IN DEMAND

"In the last week since our stores were opened, we have seen a surge in demand for products like male and female grooming products, laptops and small kitchen appliances. As of now, we have opened 42 of our stores in 17 cities across the country. Our operational stores are enjoying a double-digit growth even though operating hours are restricted," said Ritesh Ghosal, CMO, Croma.

Speaking about the surge in online enquiries, Ritesh Ghosal said, "Our feature 'Connect to Croma' allows customers to book an appointment at the store to avoid standing in the queue or request for a call-back from a Croma staff to assist in purchasing without visiting the store. We have seen the daily traffic on croma.com increase by 50 per cent over last week since we have launched this feature."

As almost all companies have simultaneously given their employees work from home, several schools, as well as other classes, are holding online sessions and children's activities the demand for these products is high.

MOBILES AND TABLETS NO MORE A LUXURY

"The lockdown has changed our lives such that mobiles and tablets too have become necessities for people. When our shop opened last week, along with people enquiring to buy, there were several waiting for their gadgets to get repaired as well," said Anand Dhadiwal of Samsung Smart Cafe in Kothrud.
