Pune: In a hint of the differences between state’s ruling parties Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Shiv Sena’s spokesperson and Parliamentarian Sanjay Raut stated that Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray was against the hurried decision to lift the lockdown in Pune district.

Pune which is the hotspot in terms of rising cases of COVID-19. Sanjay Raut’s statement is now seen as unintended blame on the NCP.

“Since the start, Uddhav Saheb had upheld that more attention has to be given to Pune’s coronavirus situations. He had even opposed the hurriedly easing of lockdown restrictions in the district. But now they are following the Mumbai pattern,” Raut told mediapersons on Thursday.

The senior leader of Shiv Sena also demanded that the Jumbo COVID Centre in Pune, where a television journalist who lost his life was admitted, was recently inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and it did not have ample facilities before it was open to public. He also pointed out that the state government needs to take care and pay attention to see if medical facilities are adequate in a city like Pune. He was responding on the COVID-19 situation in Pune and the demise of a city-based television journalist, Pandurang Raikar, amid lack of medical facilities by the administration.

As on Thursday, Pune, which is badly affected in Maharashtra, saw 54,838 active cases. Overall, the city now has reported 1,06,428 cases and 2,654 deaths.
