COVID-19 Pune: Patients prefer home isolation over hospitals

Pune: With the number of COVID-19 cases are increasing in the city, the number of patients in city opting for home isolation over getting admitted to hospitals or COVID Care Centres (CCC) is rising too. Home isolation against the novel coronavirus seems to be a trend for Punekars.

As per the latest figures (till August 4), the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) reported 16,833 active cases of the contagion, of which 10,211 patients were in home isolation while remaining 6,622 are either receiving treatment in hospitals or COVID Centres.

District Health Officer Dr Bhagwan Pawar said, " According to a report, there are currently 16,833 positive patients in Pune city followed by 6,047 in Pimpri Chinchwad. 456 are being reported in the cantonment area while total of 26,122 is from rural Pune. Of these, 9,145 patients are being treated at various COVID Care Centres, hospitals.

In-Home Isolation, 16,977 patients are at home and undergoing treatment under the guidance of a doctor. Of these, 10,211 are in Pune city, 5,132 in Pimpri-Chinchwad, 137 in municipal areas, 174 in cantonment while 1,323 are from rural areas.

Samples of 4.52 lakh suspected patients have been collected. Of these, 94,978 patients tested positive. Of these, 66,640 patients have been discharged home after treatment.
