Pune: The officials from Kondhwa police station have arrested a 46-year-old man, who allegedly committed more than 20 thefts in Pune city and rural areas. The man used to change his address every six months and had also married six women to evade arrest.

While addressing a press conference on Monday, Joint Commissioner Ravindra Shisve said that  Rs 10 lakh cash and 470 gram gold ornaments worth Rs 18.8 lakh have been seized from accused Nilesh Akash Kale of Dehu Road.

According to police officials, Kale used to commit burglaries during daytime as he often got ‘confused’ with directions during the night. “The accused targeted buildings where there were no security guards,” said Police Inspector Murlidhar Karpe of Kondhwa police station.

Jt CP Shisve added, “The accused was arrested after scanning footages of about 250 CCTV cameras. We have also arrested the jeweller identified as Prashant Dattatraya Baged of Chakan, who used to buy stolen ornaments from him.”

DCP (Zone 5) Suhas Bawache said, “Accused Kale was booked in 30 cases earlier. He was released on bail in 2017 and again started committing thefts.”
