PUNE: Officials of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) have decided to extend the deadline of regularisation of unauthorised structures from June 21, 2018, to October 21, 2018.
PMRDA had earlier decided to regularise structures constructed till December 31, 2015, after the owners pay fine including development charges, infrastructure charges and other charges.
The decision was taken in a review meeting by Guardian Minister Girish Bapat on Monday. PMRDA has already started demolishing illegal structures and has demolished 100 illegal structures. According to PMRDA, there are over 1,600 such major illegal structures under their region. The State government has stated that unauthorised constructions on prohibited areas like defence land, heritage buildings, dumping grounds, playgrounds and gardens will not be regularised.
PMRDA Chief Kiran Gitte said that illegal buildings in ecologically sensitive areas like coastal regulation zones, forests, hilltops, river beds will be razed first. Similarly, structurally unsafe buildings will not be regularised. PMRDA has a dedicated 15-member team from the city and rural police department to provide cover for the demolition drive.
