Pune: A 17-year-old deaf and mute girl was allegedly raped and impregnated by the security guard of her boarding school in Pabal village of Shikrapur. The incident was reported to Shikrapur police on Saturday, after which the police booked the security guard and woman supervisor of the hostel.

The accused guard was identified as Ramdas Lashkar (32), while the hostel supervisor was identified as Manisha. The The Pabal-based boarding school is meant for differently-abled children and the minor was studying there for the last eight years.

The incident came to light when the girl fell sick and was admitted to a local hospital. When the doctors there examined her, it was discovered that she was nine weeks pregnant.

Shivshant Khose, Police Sub Inspector at Shikrapur police station said, “We came to know about the incident after being informed by the girl’s family. During questioning, she indicated towards the security guard and we have also booked the warden of the hostel as she hid the incident. However, there are many things which need to be investigated and only then can we can reach a conclusion. We have booked the accused and started interrogating them.” The accused were booked under charges of rape and sections under POCSO (Protection of Children From Sexual Offences) Act.
