Dhanvantari medical scheme for PCMC employees will be discontinued in Pimpri Chinchwad

Tanaji Khot

Pimpri: Over 7,500 employees of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will get medical insurance cover from private companies soon.

The civic body has decided to scrap PCMC’s Dhanvantari scheme, which was designed to provide medical aid to the employees.

Over 2,000 retired employee will also benefit from the new scheme.

Dhanvantari scheme was introduced in 2014 when Dr Shrikar Pardeshi was the commissioner of PCMC. The claim settlement was supposed to be done by the medical department of PCMC.

In last three years, a large number of people benefited from this scheme. Because of this, the medical department had to spend a lot of time in processing the settlements.

This is the reason why PCMC decided to buy health insurance from a private company.
