District collectorate ascertains Rs 9.5 crore worth damage in Koregaon-Bhima riots

Pune: Officials of the district collectorate on Wednesday said that damage of over Rs 9.5 crore was reported in the clashes at Koregaon-Bhima and the bandh which took place in the first week of January.

Officials said that as per the panchanama report made by the sub-divisional officer, naib tehsildar, circle officer, police and gram sevak, over 116 four-wheelers and 95 two-wheelers were damaged in the protest. Similarly, 82 shops and hotels and 14 garages were damaged by ransacking and setting some of these establishments on fire. Officials said that many people whose vehicles were damaged did not report the loss as the vehicles were from other districts.
