Pune: Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) has revised rates of various medical treatments at Sassoon General Hospital (SGH) and other public hospitals across the states. These rates are revised every six years. The DMER had last revised these rates on December 30, 2010.
Even the most expensive tests, for which private facilities charge exorbitant fees, are done in a minimum amount at these public hospitals.
Out Door Patients (OPD) will now need to pay Rs 20 and indoor patients will need to pay Rs 30 per day. Every X-ray will cost Rs 70 and abdominal and pelvic sonography will be done for Rs 120. Tests like colour doppler will be charged Rs 250.
Angioplasty will now be at Rs 4,000
Dean Dr Ajay Chandanwale said that the SGH has a legacy of over 137 years.
"This hospital is one of the busiest in western Maharashtra. We cater to all economically backward families. SGH with its 1,296 bedded facility is known for its super speciality. With existing infrastructure, the hospital carries out at least 29 surgeries every day," said Chandanwale.
He further added that the new 11-storey building with improved and more advanced facilities will help the common man in a better way.
