Drop in cut-off for FYJC admissions

PUNE : There is good news for students of Pune. There is a drop in cut-off for First Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions in all streams including arts, science and commerce at top city colleges this year, as declared on Saturday.

For Arts, cut off at Fergusson College is 95.6 pc, down from 96 pc in 2018-19, Sir Parashuram College is 92.4 pc (93.6 pc last year). 

Similarly for science, this year the cut-off at Laxmanrao Apte Prashala is 95.6 per cent, whereas last year it was 97.6 per cent. The cut-off in FC has remained the same like previous year, 96 per cent.

In Commerce, the cut-off in Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce (BMCC) is 94.8 per cent dropping by 4 per cent from the previous year’s 98.8 per cent, while in Garware College of Commerce, it has dropped from 93.4 pc in 2018-19 to 91.2 pc this year. SP College cut-off is 88.6 per cent, while last year, it was 91 per cent.

Majority of the students applying for FYJC are State Board students, followed by CBSE and ICSE, said Rajendra Zunjarrao, Principal of Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce. “This year, their results have been low. Hence, it was expected that cut-off will come down. Internal marks will not be reflected,” Zunjarrao said.
