Drunk car driver hits two two-wheelers; 4 injured

PUNE: A businessman, his wife and two sons riding on two bikes were injured after a speeding car hit their vehicles from behind before crashing into an electric pole near Pune police commissioner’s office in Camp on Sunday. The police said that the car driver was under the influence of alcohol. 

Based on a complaint from Mukund Pardeshi (55) of Mangalwar Peth, Bund Garden police station has registered a case against Shrikant Ashok Pawle (35) of Yerawada for rash and negligent driving. 

According to the police, the Pardeshi family was going to attend a marriage ceremony in Koregaon Park. While passing through Church Road, the car hit Pardeshi’s bike around 8 pm outside the B J Medical College Boys Hostel. Pardeshi and his wife fell down, sustaining injuries. When their sons tried to stop the driver who was fleeing in the car, the driver also hit them and then the car collided with an electric pole. Some of their relatives who also reached there rushed the injured persons to KEM Hospital. Later, the police nabbed driver Pawle and charged him for various offences under the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicle Act. 

Assistant Police Inspector Jayant Patil is investigating the case.
