PUNE: Two persons were booked for duping a businessman of Rs 5.4 lakh under the pretext of exchanging Rs 100 notes with Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 notes.

Based on a complaint by Ravindra Gupta (41) of Vaidwadi, Hadapsar, the Kondhwa police registered an FIR against Gafoor and Ashpaq Ansari.

The incident took place between April 17 and 24 in Kondhwa. According to police, the duo told Gupta that a businessman named Shah has got a huge quantity of Rs 100 notes and he wants to exchange them at a 20 per cent commission.

“The duo promised to give 10 per cent commission to me. Accordingly, my friend and I raised Rs 7 lakh and went to them. However, they gave us only Rs 1.6 lakh and decamped with Rs 5.4 lakh,” the complainant told the police.
