Event management cannot help win elections: Chandrakant Patil

ST CORRESPONDENT

PUNE: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Chandrakant Patil stated that no one wins an election with help of event management firms. Only those parties can win which build confidence in people.

On Monday, former chief minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Devendra Fadnavis felicitated City Mayor Murlidhar Mohol, who is the first city Mayor from Kothrud area.

The programme was organised by Murlidhar Mohol Nagri Satkar Samiti Kothrud. Former MLA of Kothrud, Chandrakant Mokate, BJP State President Chandrakant Patil, former MLA Shashikant Sutar, Congress City President Ramesh Bagwe and Mohol’s wife Monika were present.

Patil said, “Pune is known as the cultural capital of the State. However, there are 80,000 citizens living in slum areas in Kothrud. Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) schemes and Pradhanmantri Awas Yojana failed in Pune. Without solving slum dwellers’ problems, we cannot make Pune a Metro city. So City Mayor Murlidhar Mohol should work for slum dwellers to improve their living standard. Event management cannot help win elections. Politicians should work hard to solve problems of people.”

Fadnavis said, “Pune city has potential. The city is expanding rapidly and two corporations can be formed in the future. Puneites are facing problems of water and air pollution.”
