Ex-servicemen’s gathering organised in Ahmednagar

PUNE: About 3000 veterans, war widows and parents of soldiers attended an ex-servicemen rally at Ahmednagar on Sunday to reach out to veterans, wives, parents of soldiers from Ahmednagar, Beed and Latur districts.  The programme was organised by  Armoured Corps Centre and School, Ahmednagar on behalf of the Indian Army. 

The focus of the rally, held in close coordination with Zilla Sainik Board and State administration, was to resolve pension anomalies and ameliorate day to day problems faced by the soldiers and their families.

“The rally gave a platform to all to put forward their issues directly to the concerned civil and defence officials. Numerous stalls were set up by representatives of Record offices, Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (PCDA) Pensions, Prayagraj (Allahabad), State government agencies, bank officials and welfare agencies to render assistance and spread awareness on matters related to pensions and legal cases at district and  taluka level. A medical camp was established under the aegis of Military Hospital, Ahmednagar in coordination with Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), Ahmednagar to provide necessary medical cover to those in need,” stated a press release from Southern Command HQ.

Armoured Corps Centre & School Commandant Major General Shailjanand Jha, in his address, said the Indian Army is committed to looking after the interest of the veterans, war widows and their families.
