ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune: Creative Dolls and NGO Samwad have jointly organised an exhibition of dolls made from cotton and cloth to spread awareness among citizens about not using dolls made from plastic or rubber, which are easily available in the market.

The exhibition will be held from 10 am to 9 pm from January 13 to 15 at Balgandharva Rangmandir.

Giving details about the exhibition, Savita Gore, Director, Creative Dolls, said, “I have been making dolls from cotton and cloth as my hobby for the past 17 years. People should get to see that dolls are not only made from plastic and rubber, but also from cotton and cloth, which is not harmful to environment and children.”

Savita’s husband Somnath said, “These dolls depict the culture of Maharashtra displaying dhol-tasha pathaks, gondhal, tulsi puja and many other such forms. Our aim is to make children aware of environment-friendly toys right from their birth.”

Sunil Mahajan, President of NGO Samwad, said, “The exhibition has been organised to preserve the Maharashtrian culture by using eco-friendly material. There is no entry fee for the exhibition.”
