Pune: To facilitate exports from the newly-set up Air Cargo Complex at the Pune International Airport, an office of Deputy Commissioner of Customs was inaugurated here on Wednesday. AK Pandey, Indian Revenue Services (IRS), Chief Commissioner of Customs and GST, inaugurated the office. Other senior officers were also present.

A press release issued by MVS Choudhary, Commissioner of Customs, Pune, stated, “The international Air Cargo Complex was a long awaited demand from exporters of perishable commodities like cut flowers, vegetables and fruits to the Middle East and exporters of machinery and spare parts to Europe.

These commodities were earlier being exported from Air Cargo Complex, Sahara, Mumbai, which incurred a lot of time and cost.”
“At present, four international flights cater for such operations to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Frankfurt.

“The complex has the facility to handle four tonnes of cargo per day with cargo scanner, EDI connectivity and modern amenities.
“Customs operations are headed by the deputy commissioner.
“At present, only exports are allowed from this facility,” the release stated.
