FB users come together for rally

Pune: Facebook netizens came together at the Good Luck Cafe chowk, on Monday evening, in support of the Constitution and its values, as a protest of the incident of burning of the Indian Constitution copies by some anti-reservation protesters in Delhi a few days back. Almost 200 facebookers gathered to give a reaffirmation of their faith in the Constitution.

Mohasin Sheikh, a social media writer and graphic designer, said that he thought of calling people for such a rally as it is the need of the hour. “We did not want to remain silent when the Constitution of our country, which provides protection and justice to the people of the country is being attacked by a select few for their selfish purpose,” he said, adding, “So I gave the call for the rally and I got tremendous response.”

Sheikh had earlier organised other programmes too through social media. His programme of a meat festival, ‘Vashatotsav’, saw tremendous response recently. This has once again highlighted the role of social media in bringing people together for social purposes and causes. The protesters gave slogans in protest of those who burnt the copies of the Constitution and in support of constitutional values.
