PUNE: Sleuths from the Crime Branch Unit 2 of Pune city police on Sunday arrested a Marathi film actress in extortion case lodged by an actor after she and three others including an Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) officer allegedly demanded money to settle a molestation case.

An FIR was registered in this regard by the 28-year-old actor, who is a resident of Pune, with Sahakar Nagar police station in April this year.

Earlier, the police arrested Assistant Police Inspector Amol Tekale of the ATS, Ram Jagdale.

Jagdale has several cases against him in the past. Another Marathi film actress who had filed a molestation case against the 28-year-old actor in September last year was also arrested.

According to the police, the complainant and the actress who lodged the molestation case, worked together in a film. On September 28, 2018, the four accused called the actor to Jagdale’s office in Sahakar Nagar to discuss withdrawing the molestation case. However, when the actor went there they forced him to apologise  to the actress by touching her feet and also made a video of the entire act. They demanded Rs 15 lakh from the actor for withdrawing the molestation complaint. Jagdale allegedly threatened the actor with a pistol.

According to the complaint, the actor gave Rs one lakh to Tekale, who was mediating in the case. As he did not give remaining amount, his video was leaked which went viral on social media. The video was posted online by another actress, who was arrested on Sunday, and is a friend of the actress who had filed molestation case.

The actress was produced before a court which released her on bail. The three earlier arrested accused are also out on bail.
