Fire Brigade rescue five persons on Thursday

PUNE: The Pune Fire Brigade and life guards rescued five persons in various incidents at the ghats on Thursday. Three persons had a narrow escape during an immersion of Ganpati idol after their boat capsized in the Mutha river at Amruteshwar Ghat. Firemen Vinod Sarode and the lifeguards at the ghat jumped into the water and safely brought three of them to the ghat. 

Station Duty Officer at Amruteshwar Ghat, Shivaji Memane said, “Three of them were carrying a Ganpati idol in the boat when the boat capsized at 6 pm on Thursday.”   In another incident, the Station Duty Officer at Aundh Ghat, Kamlesh Sangale rescued a 14-year-old girl who was drowning during the idol immersion on Thursday afternoon.
