Five killed as car hits three motorcycles

Pune: Five men were killed after a car hit their motorcycles at Chakan on Tuesday night. All the five victims worked in a fabrication unit and were returning home after work on three motorcycles. According to the Chakan police, the accident took place at Khalumbre (Khed taluka) near the MIDC around 11.30 pm on Tuesday. The car hit the divider and landed on the other side of the road before colliding with the three motorcycles coming from the opposite direction. All five men died on the spot.

The deceased have been identified as Chandrasekhar Surajlala Vishwakarma (38), Sunil Parmanand Sharma (43), both residents of Bhosari, Deepnarayan Harivansh Vishwakarma (24), Satyavan Pandey (45), Sarvagya Sanjay Vishwakarma (35), all residents of Morevasti in Chikhali.

The driver of the vehicle, Suhas Namdev Sevkari (23) of Navlakh Umbre, who suffered injuries in the incident, is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chakan. An FIR has been registered against him under IPC sections 279 (rash driving), 337, 304 A (causing death by negligence) and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.
