ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune: After a complete makeover, the canteen of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) was opened on Tuesday. The canteen now has energy efficient LED lighting, landscaped garden and fixed exterior granite-topped seating and dining areas.

The nine-time National Award winning eminent filmmaker and FTII alumnus, Sunil Sukthankar (1989, Direction), inaugurated the canteen in the presence of Bhupendra Kainthola, Director, FTII, Varun Bhardwaj, Registrar, RN Pathak, Dean (TV) and AS Kanal, FTII Alumnus (Cinematography, 1975).

“In keeping with the ongoing activity of upgrading existing infrastructure in FTII, the institute canteen has been given a makeover. The canteen is visited by staff, teachers, students and visitors around the year and it was felt that in the 20+ years since it was built, the canteen needed a total upgradation.

Consequently, the kitchen, store, dispensing area and the exterior was renovated. To restrict entry of dogs, foot trappers and fence has been set up and also the new look of the canteen makes it an ideal location for shootings too,” Kainthola said.
