FTII to conduct course in still photography

ST CORRESPONDENT

PUNE: Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) will conduct a foundation course in still photography in the campus from April 9 to 28. The last date to apply for the same is April 2.

Conducted under FTII’s Film Education Outreach Initiative SKIFT (Skilling India in Film and Television), the 20-day course in still photography will introduce the participants to a DSLR camera, three pillars of photography, basic techniques in photography and camera handling.

“Despite all the charm of the video and film, still photography will never go out of fashion. The visual sense of photography is often the forerunner of digital cinematography,” said Bhupendra Kainthola, Director, FTII while announcing the course.

The course will also offer insights to learners in studio portraits, interior photography, street candid photography and fashion photography.

“Bharat Kanhere is one of India’s finest photography teachers. He has had a long stint at FTII, teaches in several institutes and has conducted photography courses for FTII in Kashmir Valley,” Kainthola added.

Kanhere has been in the field of photography for 55 years, of which 28 years have been as an academic staff member in the Department of Cinematography at FTII. He has been practising advertising-industrial photography for many years.
