Gambling den busted in Wanawadi

Pune: A gambling den was busted by Wanawadi police station at house no. 115 in Wanawadi Bazar on December 30 and four persons were booked. Acting on a tip-off, Senior Police Inspector Sayaji Gaware, In-Charge of Wanawadi police station, raided the house with his team. An FIR has been registered against Sanghraj Uttam Waghmare (56), Akash Sanghraj Waghmare (24), both residents of house no. 115, Wanawadi Bazar, and Amit Vijay Kamble of house no 23, Wanawadi Bazar, and Qamruddin Qureshi, who is the brother of notorious goon Moinuddin Qureshi from the same area.

According to police, the gambling centre had been running for several months on commission basis on the instructions of Qamruddin. The four accused have been charged with offences under relevant sections of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act. Police Naik Sandip Tikone has lodged a complaint against them.
