Gold ornaments worth Rs 13L seized at airport

Pune: Sleuths from the Customs department seized 444 grams gold ornaments worth Rs 13.17 lakh from a man who arrived at Pune international airport from Dubai on Sunday afternoon.

The passenger Mohammed Afauque, who arrived by Air India flight IX212 from Dubai at 2.40 pm, was checked on suspicion. “Search of his baggage resulted in seizure of 19 gold chains, 28 ear rings and 14 pendants. The total weight of the gold jewellery is 444 grams and is valued at Rs 13.17 lakh. The gold ornaments were hidden inside a jean’s pockets which was kept in a trolley bag,” an officer added.
