Green net shades to save people from summer heat

ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune: In order to beat the heat, green shade covers will be erected at 20 traffic signals in Peth areas by a corporator.

Police believe this will also help people stop instead of jumping traffic signals.

Till Sunday, the shades were installed at nine places including Appa Balwant Chowk, Belbag chowk and Hutatma chowk.
The city has been witnessing scorching heat over the last one month. And standing for 1-2 minutes at the traffic signal, has become difficult.

Corporator Hemant Rasne got the shades installed at the chowks. In the next two days, the shades will be installed at 20 places, he said, adding that the shades will also save people from rains in the coming monsoon season.

Earlier, 2,016 similar shades were installed at various chowks in Nagpur.
