Pune: The city transport bus service Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) on Monday decided to curtail the fares of special airport buses. This decision was based after a lukewarm response was recorded from the passengers in the wake of the airport not functioning between 8 pm to 8 am.

The fares for buses running on the Hadapsar route will be Rs 20, Rs 40, Rs 60, Rs 80 and Rs 100, while if you are travelling to Hinjewadi you will be charged between Rs 20 to Rs 180. The new fare is structured depending on the length of the routes.

The transport body is receiving a low response amid the fewer movements of the flights. As the Pune Airport is closed between 8 pm to 8 am for the maintenance work, 28-32 flights are ferried in a day.

Chetna Kerure, Joint Managing Director of PMPML, informed that the e-bus offers luxurious service to its passengers. There are a total of 35 air-conditioned buses on the five routes connecting to the city.

These buses from Lohegaon Airport will ply to different areas of the city including Hadapsar, Swargate, Kothrud, Nigdi and Hinjewadi. The schedule of this bus is based on that of the flights. This is to ensure that the passengers spend little time waiting for the buses.

PMPML started its 'smart' bus service for travellers travelling to and from the airport on October 24, with 43 buses operating on five routes, connecting various parts of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad with the airport.
