Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has given rights to city police to take action against vehicles which are parked in ‘No Parking’ zones. The (PMC) has fixed a fine of Rs 1,000 for two-wheelers.
The civic body has given a reference of the decision of General Body’s meeting to fine Rs 1,000 for two-wheelers, Rs 1,500 for two-three wheelers and Rs 3,000 for heavy vehicles.
Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao has tabled the proposal in the Standing Committee to make the committee members aware of General Body’s decision.
The commissioner has mentioned in the proposal that the PMC General Body had taken the decision in 2017.
As per the proposal, the Traffic Police Department will take action against vehicles which will be parked in ‘No Parking’ zones or areas. The traffic police will give 50 per cent amount fine to the PMC.
Meanwhile, the Traffic Police Department has already started action against abandoned vehicles which are creating an obstacle to traffic at night. The traffic police are charging a fine of Rs 5,000 for two-wheelers, Rs 10,000 for three-wheelers and Rs 15,000 for cars, jeeps and buses.
The State government’s order passed in October 2018, authorised civic bodies to take action against vehicles creating obstacles for traffic. The police and the civic body have started taking action from December 6 in the city. The PMC is providing cranes, space to place seize vehicles and security personnel and traffic police are collection fine as per PMC General Body’s decision.
