IMD issues ‘Cyclone Watch’ for north Odisha and West Bengal

PUNE: Depression over the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a cyclonic storm ‘Bulbul’. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘Cyclone Watch’ for north Odisha and West Bengal coasts. Also, severe cyclonic storm ‘Maha’ has weakened into a deep depression.

Under the influence of Western Disturbance and its interaction with the remnant of cyclone ‘Maha’, heavy to very heavy rain/snow at isolated places is very likely over Jammu and Kashmir and heavy over Himachal Pradesh. Also, isolated heavy rainfall over Punjab, Gujarat region and Saurashtra coasts till November 8 evening.

CYCLONE BULBUL
Cyclonic storm ‘Bulbul’ located over the east-central Bay of Bengal moved north-westwards. It is very likely to intensify into a ‘Severe Cyclonic Storm’ till November 8 morning. It is very likely to move initially north-northwestwards till November 8 morning and then nearly northwards till November 9 morning and then recurve northeastwards towards Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal.

Under its influence, light to moderate rainfall at many places with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over north coastal districts of Odisha on November 8 and November 9. 

Light to moderate rainfall at most places with extremely heavy falls at isolated places is very likely over coastal districts of West Bengal on November 9.

STATE AND PUNE CITY
As per predictions made by the IMD, generally cloudy sky with very light rain is very likely on November 8. Isolated rains in Konkan and Goa and central Maharashtra are predicted by the IMD on November 8. In Marathwada and Vidarbha, the weather shall remain dry.
