Camil Parkhe

Pimpri: A day after the conclusion of the Ganesh festival, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Saturday undertook cleaning operation at all the immersion ghats in the city.

The cleaning drive was undertaken at the immersion ghats in Pimpri, Chinchwadgaon, Thergaon, Ganesh Lake in Nigdi and other places.

Some social organisations and groups also joined the cleaning drive in the city.

The immersion ghats in the city were visited by thousands of devotees during the last few days. Idols of Lord Ganesh were ceremoniously immersed at the ghats on various days during the festival.

The ‘Nirmalya Kund’ or the urns containing floral offerings at various immersion ghats, which were overflowing, were cleaned by the municipal corporation sanitation employees on Saturday.

Some of the idols, which were not fully immersed in Pavana river due to low water level, were carried along with the rising water level on Saturday.
