Infant kidnapped from footpath

Pune: A  year-and-two-months-old infant was kidnapped during the wee hours of Tuesday from the footpath near Sassoon Hospital at Maldhakka Chowk, under the jurisdiction of Bundgarden police station.

The infant was sleeping on the footpath along with her parents and was kidnapped between 3 am and 4.30 am on Tuesday by an unknown person. The infant, identified as Naseeb Bagdi, was wearing a black sweater at the time of the abduction.

The girl’s father Narendra Bagdi is a labourer and hails from Rajasthan.

MM Mujawar, Police Inspector, Bundgarden police station, said, “We are suspecting that the girl has been kidnapped for the purpose of begging and it seems she has been kidnapped by some footpath dwellers. We have started our probe and will rescue the girl soon.”

A case has been registered under Section 363 (Punishment for kidnapping) against the unidentified abductor at Bundgarden police station.
