Pune, 16 April 2026: Infosys has issued a formal response to allegations of workplace harassment at its Business Process Management (BPM) facility in Pune, following claims that surfaced on social media.
The company said it takes such concerns seriously and has initiated internal processes to examine the matter.
The controversy began after posts on the platform X alleged inappropriate behaviour towards female employees. Though the posts were later deleted, Maharashtra minister Nitesh Rane confirmed that the state government has taken cognizance of the issue.
In its response, Infosys said it follows a strict zero-tolerance policy against harassment and discrimination. The company stated that any reported issue is investigated through an independent committee and that it promotes a workplace culture where employees are encouraged to raise concerns openly. It also noted that multiple preventive mechanisms are in place as part of its global code of conduct.
While further details about the specific allegations are still awaited, it is understood that the individual who initially raised the claims has withdrawn the posts. The company has not yet shared findings from any internal inquiry.
The development comes at a time when Maharashtra’s IT sector is facing increased scrutiny due to a separate case involving Tata Consultancy Services in Nashik. The case includes multiple complaints of workplace harassment reported between 2022 and 2026.
According to police, nine cases have been registered so far across Deolali Camp and Mumbai Naka police stations. The complaints include allegations of sexual harassment, inappropriate touching, stalking, objectionable remarks, and mental abuse.
One complaint, filed by a male employee, also mentions harassment and forced religious conversion.
The investigation began with a complaint from a woman who alleged that a colleague misled her with a promise of marriage. As the probe progressed, several more women came forward with similar accusations, expanding the scope of the case.
Authorities have reviewed CCTV footage, recorded statements from complainants and accused individuals, and even conducted an undercover operation to apprehend one of the suspects. Officials have said the investigation is ongoing and that all aspects are being examined before drawing conclusions.
