Pune: “The things, which we considered abnormal during our days, now are considered to be normal. Thus, it is necessary to maintain the mental health of society,” said veteran film actor and psychiatrist Dr Mohan Agashe. 

He was speaking at the unveiling ceremony of the logo of the third edition of Pravasee Malayalee Drama Competition here recently.

The logo competition was organised by city-based Malayalee Cultural Centre, Vakdevatha. 

Agashe said, “Kerala became internationally popular for the art Kathakali, its acting, mudras, costumes and makeup. 
“Kathakali has generally had an intellectual audience so that they can relate and understand its vocal and mudras easily.”

He further added that theatre is encouraged in all the three languages Marathi, Bengali and Malayalam because more intellectual and theatrical representations are made intellectually and entirely in a different way. Any knowledge is based on information and this is processed by each person in a different way.”

He appreciated Vakdevatha’s drama competition, as it helps to enhance the skills of the artists and keep the culture alive. 
He presented a cash prize of Rs 5,000 and Vakdevatha Memento to Sukesh Pookulangara from Mumbai, who won the first prize in Vakdevatha Drama logo competition. 

Many well-known personalities from various fields were present for the programme. 

K Vishwanathan Nair felicitated Dr Mohan Agashe for his outstanding contribution to medical, theatre and film fields. Meanwhile, the drama competition will be held on June 3, 2018 at Ankushrao Landge Auditorium, Bhosari.
