Khavda pottery workshop on Saturday

ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune: Sakal Media Group will organise a ‘Khavda - Terracotta Hand Painted Pottery’ workshop on September 16.  It will be conducted by master potter and tribal art specialist Preeti Lokhande.

Khavda pottery is an art form of Khavda, North Kutch. While the men do all the throwing in terracotta, the women handle all the surface decoration which in the northern Kutch village of Ludia is primarily in the form of painting.

Each participant of the workshop will be provided the material required for making one pot on potter’s wheel (this pot will be required to kept for drying for 1-2 hours under the sun and can be painted at participant’s home only) and two pots (one plate and glass each) to paint with Khavda patterns on the spot.
