Pune: Newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Krishna Prakash, assumed charge of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Pimpri-Chinchwad's former Police Commissioner Sandeep Bishnoi told Sakal Times that he would not go to the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT).

The new Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad is the first IG rank officer to complete Ironman and Ultraman triathlons. Prakash is also the first Indian to finish the Race Across The West (RAW) cycle race.

For the past few days, there were talks of replacement for the Commissioner of Police. The discussion has finally come to a complete halt after Sandeep Bishnoi's premature transfer. He remained as Pimpri-Chinchwad city commissioner for only 11 months and two days.

The Home Department issued a transfer order on August 2, naming the former Commissioner of Police Sandeep Bishnoi. He was replaced by the Commissioner of Police Krishna Prakash.

Accordingly, Krishna Prakash accepted the charge of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate on Saturday. He was the Special Director General of Police of the State of Maharashtra. Meanwhile, Sandeep Bishnoi was upset over the Home Department's premature transfer order, and there were talks of him going to CAT. However, he made it clear to Sakal Times that he would not be going to CAT.

Commissioner Sandeep Bishnoi was appointed on September 20, 2019. The next day, on September 21, he took over as Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner. In just eleven months of his tenure, he tried to curb crime in the city. Moreover, there was an open resentment among many officials.

Meanwhile, last month, the National Congress Party (NCP) MLA had directly expressed his displeasure to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar over the Commissioner of Police transfer.
