The elections will be held for 23 seats 

Pune: The last phase of Senate elections for principals, college and university teachers, head of departments (HOD) at the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has been rolled out in the varsity. 

The last date of filing nominations for principals, teachers and HODs is on January 4.

This election will be contested for 23 seats which include three seats for university teachers, 10 seats for undergraduate and post-graduate college teachers from each faculties consisting humanities, science and technology, interdisciplinary studies and commerce and management and 10 for college principals of affiliated, autonomous colleges which are accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) or National Board of Accreditation (NBA) in the Senate council body. 

Each will be elected by the collegium of their respective groups.
At present, there are 34 members of the senate council body which account for management representatives and registered graduates who were elected in mid-November last year.
